How We Pick

Trust is the whole business. Here's exactly how we decide what makes a guide — and why you can believe a "skip it" from us.

Our process

1. Define the job. We start from what you're actually trying to do (e.g., "light my desk without screen glare"), not from a brand's marketing.
2. Build the contender list. We gather the credible options across price tiers, drawing on specs, owner reviews, expert teardowns, and hands-on, tested-style evaluation.
3. Weigh real trade-offs. Light quality, build, ergonomics, durability, value, and the small daily annoyances that don't show up on a spec sheet.
4. Name a clear winner per use-case. Best Overall, Best Value, Best Budget — so you can stop researching and decide.
5. Re-check and date it. Prices and models change. We revisit guides and stamp the "last updated" date so you know it's current.

What we will not do

• Recommend something just because it pays a higher commission.
• Pad a list with weak "filler" products to look comprehensive.
• Hide the downsides. Every pick gets an honest "what to know."
